The A70 Road Abduction
The account
Two friends saw an object over the road and reached their destination much later than they should have, unable to explain the delay.
What investigators found
There is no physical evidence; the abduction memories emerged months later under hypnosis, a method considered unreliable for recovering memories.
The story
One night in August 1992, Garry Wood and Colin Wright were driving along the A70, heading from the outskirts of Edinburgh to the village of Tarbrax in rural Scotland. They said a dark object appeared over the road and that afterward they arrived much later than expected, unable to account for the lost time. The episode became one of the best-known UFO cases in the country.
Months later, both men underwent hypnotic regression sessions and said they remembered being taken, examined and contacted by creatures. Psychologists note that hypnosis can create false memories, blending fear, dreams and suggestion. There were no independent witnesses or physical traces, and the case remains a personal account.
