The story
In 2022, Colombian pilot Jorge Arteaga was flying over Antioquia, near Medellín, when he saw a metallic-looking object pass beside his aircraft. He recorded the scene on his phone. In 2023 the video spread across social media, was hailed by many as the best UFO footage ever taken and led Mexican ufologist Jaime Maussan to interview the pilot.
The sharpness of the images split opinion. For some, it was one of the rare authentic videos on the subject. Analysts who studied the recording frame by frame suggest that the irregular shape and the motion match party balloons or light objects drifting on the wind, seen at close range. No Colombian aviation authority has released an official conclusion.
