Billy Meier and the Pleiadians
The account
A Swiss farmer claims he receives visits from beings from the Pleiades and has photographed their craft hundreds of times.
What investigators found
Analyses point to scale models in the photos, and images of the alleged Pleiadian women were traced to dancers from a TV show.
The story
Starting in 1975, Swiss man Eduard "Billy" Meier began saying that he was meeting a woman named Semjase, from the Pleiades, and that he had permission to photograph the "beamships." He released hundreds of photos and films of metallic discs over the Swiss landscape, along with long messages he claimed to have received from the visitors.
The case drew followers around the world and gave rise to a community centered on Meier. Analysts noted that the craft look like small models photographed close to the camera, and photos of the alleged Pleiadian women were recognized as images of dancers from an American television show. Most researchers regard it as an elaborate hoax.
