Children Describe Seeing a UFO Landed Near Their School in Broad Haven, 1977Eyes On Cinema

The account

A group of schoolchildren saw a silver object landed near their school, with a figure in a shiny suit beside it.

What investigators found

No physical trace was found; explanations include confusion with local vehicles or equipment and the influence of a wave of news coverage.

The story

On February 4, 1977, fourteen pupils at the Broad Haven primary school, in southwest Wales, said they saw a silver, elongated object landed in a field near the playground. Some also said they saw a figure in a silver suit. The headmaster separated the children and asked each one to draw what they had seen, and the drawings shared similarities.

The episode took place in the middle of a wave of reports in the Dyfed area, which the British press called the Welsh Triangle and which lay near an air base. The case was investigated by ufologists of the time, but no physical trace was found. Skeptics suggest the children saw an ordinary vehicle or piece of equipment and that the climate of UFO news helped shape their memories.
