The story
On the night of December 28, 1988, residents of the Cabo Rojo and Lajas area, in southwestern Puerto Rico, reported a large triangular object covered in lights over the sea. According to their accounts, two jet fighters approached it and suddenly disappeared from view, as if swallowed by the object, which then left.
The case was publicized by local researchers and helped cement the region's reputation, where highway PR-303 became known as the Ruta Extraterrestre. The U.S. armed forces denied losing any aircraft. No official document supports the disappearance, and the case rests on eyewitness testimony alone.
