The Dark Beings of Cussac
The account
Two children tending cows saw a glowing sphere and small dark beings that floated up to it.
What investigators found
The case was investigated by the gendarmerie and by the official French agency, with no definitive conclusion.
The story
On the morning of August 29, 1967, a brother and sister watching cattle near Cussac, in central France, said they saw across a road a luminous sphere and four small dark beings. The figures reportedly flew to the object, which rose spinning and left a strong smell in the air, similar to sulfur.
The gendarmerie interviewed the children, who kept to the same account, and years later the case was reviewed by the official French service for the study of aerial phenomena. No conventional explanation has been unanimously accepted. Skeptics raise possibilities such as a balloon or confusion with people in the distance, but none of them fully fits the account.
