The jelly beings of Domsten
The account
Two men said they were attacked by gelatinous creatures that came out of a glowing disc landed in a seaside clearing.
What investigators found
There was no physical proof, and many researchers regard the story as an invention or exaggeration by the men themselves.
The story
In December 1958, Stig Rydberg and Hans Gustafsson said they were driving home in the early morning hours through the Domsten area, north of Helsingborg, when they stopped and saw a glowing object landed in a clearing. Shapeless, jelly-like beings supposedly came out of it and tried to drag them away. The two said they escaped after a struggle.
The case made the Swedish newspapers, and the men were questioned by authorities and doctors. It ranks among the three most remembered UFO enigmas in Sweden, alongside Ängelholm and Mariannelund. No confirmed marks were left at the site, and skeptical researchers point to contradictions in the accounts and a desire for fame as the more likely explanations.
