The Emilcin Abductee
The account
An elderly farmer was taken aboard a craft by small beings and examined before being released.
What investigators found
There is no physical evidence of the encounter; the case rests on one witness's account and secondhand testimony.
The story
On the morning of May 10, 1978, Jan Wolski, a 71-year-old farmer, was driving his horse cart along a road near the village of Emilcin, in eastern Poland. According to his account, two small beings with dark skin and slanted eyes led him into an object hovering over a field. Inside, he said, he was undressed and examined, then released unharmed.
The case was investigated by Polish ufologists and became the most famous encounter of its kind in the country, to the point that the village erected a monument commemorating the episode. Skeptics point out that there is no physical evidence and no direct witness to the supposed object. For them, the account may have come from confusion, a dream or invention, although those who knew Wolski defend his sincerity.
