The story
In January 1976, Hermínio and Bianca Reis were driving on the highway between Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte when, near Matias Barbosa, in Minas Gerais, they said they were engulfed by a bright light. According to the couple, the car was pulled inside an object, where they met beings who communicated with them and talked about the origin of humanity. The episode became known as the Karran case.
The two told their story on television programs in the late 1970s, and the case was also publicized by foreign researchers. There is, however, no mark on the vehicle, no outside witness and no document confirming the encounter. For skeptics, it is a personal experience that is hard to assess and that gained momentum through media exposure.
