The Ilkley Moor Alien Photo
The account
A former police officer photographed a small green creature on the moor and later realized he had lost hours of memory.
What investigators found
The photo is blurry and has never been verified; the hypothesis of a hoax or misidentification remains as strong as any other.
The story
On the morning of December 1, 1987, a former police officer crossing Ilkley Moor, in northern England, said he came across a small greenish creature. He said he took a photo before the figure ran off and then saw an object rise between the hills. When he reached town, he noticed his watch showed a time much later than he expected.
Later, under hypnosis, he described being taken aboard a craft. The photo shows a dark, blurry figure and became one of the most debated images in British ufology. Its author used a false name and never underwent independent verification. Skeptics point out that the image may show a person in costume, an ordinary object or a fake, and that hypnosis is not a reliable method for recovering memories.
