The Lights over Lima Airport
The account
Two glowing objects supposedly hovered for almost an hour over the end of the runway at Peru's main airport.
What investigators found
The control tower report is real, but failing to identify a light does not prove any craft; drones, distant aircraft and reflections are common explanations.
The story
In the early hours of February 27, 2019, a controller in the tower at Jorge Chávez airport in Callao reported two strange lights near the end of the runway. According to the Peruvian press, the objects stayed in place for about an hour, were seen from the terminal and showed up in photographs that spread on social media. Corpac, the company that runs the airports and air traffic, logged the episode.
Ufologist Anthony Choy said Corpac confirmed it had been unable to identify the objects. That turned the case into national news. Still, an unidentified object is just that: something that was not recognized. With no radar data released and no analysis of the photos, drones, approaching aircraft and nighttime reflections remain possible explanations.
