Linda Napolitano and the Brooklyn Bridge
The account
A woman allegedly floated out of her apartment window into a craft, in front of witnesses near the Brooklyn Bridge.
What investigators found
Independent researchers found serious contradictions, and many regard the case as a hoax.
The story
According to the account, in the early hours of November 30, 1989, Linda Napolitano was floated out of the window of her Manhattan apartment into a glowing craft. The case was investigated by researcher Budd Hopkins, who received letters from alleged witnesses, including two men who said they were providing security for an important political figure.
Hopkins published a book defending the case as proof of an abduction with witnesses. Other researchers, however, examined the accounts and found contradictions, witnesses who never came forward, and details that were unlikely in such a busy part of the city. In their view, the story was most likely made up. No independent evidence has surfaced to this day.
