The Fight with the Petare Creature
The account
Two delivery men supposedly found a glowing sphere in the street and fought a small hairy creature that came out of it.
What investigators found
The witnesses went to the police that same night, but there is no physical evidence; skeptics cite the hysteria of the 1954 wave and the possibility of a hoax.
The story
In the early hours of November 29, 1954, delivery men Gustavo González and José Ponce were driving their truck through Petare, in Greater Caracas, when, by their account, they found a glowing sphere sitting in the street. A small, hairy being supposedly came out of it. González tried to grab it and was shoved back with great force, and during the struggle he even used a knife, which reportedly did not wound the creature. The beings then went back into the sphere, which flew off.
The two went to the police station right afterward, and officers suspected they were drunk. The case made the newspapers and became known worldwide when American writer Frank Edwards included it in his book on flying saucers. No physical evidence ever emerged, and researchers note that the episode took place at the height of a wave of reports in the country.
