The Voronezh Case (1989): Aliens Allegedly Frightened a Town in Rural RussiaBunker X

The account

Children in a park saw a sphere land, and out of it came a towering three-eyed being accompanied by a robot.

What investigators found

The story was reported by the official Soviet news agency, but there was no physical evidence; experts cite children's imagination and press exaggeration.

The story

In late September 1989, children playing ball in a park in Voronezh, in southern Russia, said they saw a reddish sphere land. Out of it reportedly came a very tall being with three eyes, silver clothing, and a disc on its chest, along with a small figure that looked like a robot. Other residents reported lights in the sky over the same days.

The story went global when the official Soviet agency TASS released it, at the height of the Soviet Union's political opening. Investigators spoke of marks on the grass, but nothing was independently confirmed. Skeptics note that the accounts came mostly from children, who changed details over time, and that the foreign press amplified the case.
